This policy explains what information ToughTalkTech ("we", "us") collects when you visit toughtalktech.com, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. ToughTalkTech publishes reviews, rankings and comparisons of rugged smartwatches. We don't sell products, and we don't ask you to create an account.
Information you give us
When you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, your email address and your message. We use them to read and answer your message and to keep a record of it.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the site, we and the companies that help us run it collect information about your visit through cookies, pixels and similar technology stored in your browser. It includes:
- your IP address and the approximate location it suggests;
- your browser, device and operating system;
- the pages you view, how long you stay and what you click;
- the website or ad that brought you here, including the ad click identifier and campaign tags in the link.
This information comes from our website platform (Shopify), the analytics of the tool we build some pages with, and advertising partners, including Meta (Facebook and Instagram) through the Meta pixel. Our pages also load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the fonts load.
Links to other sites
Our reviews link to the websites of the brands and stores we cover. When you follow one of those links, we add information to it: which of our pages you came from, which link you clicked and, if an ad brought you to our site, that ad's click identifier and campaign tags. This lets the other site see where its visitor came from. So that this still works on the next page you read, we keep a note of the ad that brought you in your browser for up to 7 days. Once you're on another site, its own privacy policy applies.
How we use information
- to answer your messages;
- to run, secure and fix the site;
- to understand which pages people read and how they find us;
- to measure and improve our advertising, and to show our ads to people who may be interested in them;
- to meet our legal obligations.
Who we share it with
- Service providers who run the site and our email for us, such as Shopify.
- Advertising and analytics partners, such as Meta, as described above. They may combine it with other information they hold, under their own privacy policies.
- The sites you choose to visit from our links, as described above.
- Authorities or others when the law requires it or to protect our rights, and a buyer if our business changes hands.
We don't sell your name, email address or messages. Some US state laws treat sharing information with advertising partners for targeted advertising as a "sale" or "sharing". You can opt out as described below.
Your choices
- You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser. The site still works if you do.
- You can control how Meta uses your information for ads in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings.
- To opt out of our sharing for targeted advertising, email us at contact@toughtalktech.com.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including California, the European Union and the United Kingdom, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy of it, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to or limit how we use it. To make a request, email contact@toughtalktech.com. We'll answer within the time the law allows, and we won't treat you differently for asking. If you're in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
How long we keep it
We keep messages for as long as we need them to answer you and to keep reasonable records. The note of the ad that brought you expires in your browser after 7 days. Our platform and partners keep what they collect for the periods set out in their own policies.
Children
The site is written for adults choosing work gear. It isn't meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Where information is processed
We and our service providers may process information in the United States and in other countries whose data protection laws may differ from yours.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new date.
